Secular Progressive?

On The O’Reilly Factor, I’m always hearing about “those” secular progressives, and I have always understood that that usually just means crazy Liberals. (I know… I’m laughing, too) I do not just get that opinion from O’Reilly. But the stories I hear about the radical “secular progressives” have taught me that they’re just crazy. I saw this video on youtube.com posted by a Secular Progressive…

In the video, the narrator attacks the Conservatives by trying to persuade the viewer that Jesus is on the Liberals’ side, even though O’Reilly specifically said “secular progressives,” not liberals. This seems a bit ironic considering the word “secular” is found in their group name.

Didn’t he miss out on the fact that another main point that Jesus emphasized on was not being judgmental of eachother? And Jesus never said that the government should take care of the poor. His teachings were more emphasized on the fact that you and I should help the poor! Yes, forgiveness was one of his main teachings… and Hillary Clinton should have forgiven Bill Clinton for cheating, but it doesn’t mean it was okay for him to cheat! Or that it’s our place to judge him for it!

It also has the part in the video about Bush not raising the money for the poor that he said he would in his first speech… HE’S A POLITICIAN! OF COURSE HE’S NOT GOING TO! Do you know WHY he didn’t raise all that money? Because the promise he made was based on people sacrificing their own dollars! And people are just lazy! Why would anyone believe that crap? Don’t get mad at Bush because people are poor until you do your research and find how much of his own money he sacrifices to the poor and how many poor people are actually trying to get back on their feet.

It’s the same with Democratic candidates, as well! They never do anything they say they’re going to do! Do you know why?! Because nearly everything they do has to be passed through congress! And do you know why nothing gets passed? Because there’s not enough money to do things that politicians want to do! Do you know why? Because all the money gets wasted in the process of organizing the money! Why give the government money when they just have to pay people to organize it and THEN give it to the poor, when you could just go help the poor people yourself? Look at the attendence of the Congressmen in our government… look at their salaries… look at how many times a year they go on vacation!

The first major section of the Constitution sets up the Legislative Branch! This is because it’s the most important part! I hate that people always blame the president for what’s happening… it’s just a single person to use as a scapegoat. Pay attention to who’s legislating before you yell at the president! I’m going to put in a famous Thomas Jefferson quote here to sum up why our government is the way it is right now…

“If once the people become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and congress and assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions.”

This has been happening in Congress ever since the government had to grow during F.D.R.’s days, as well as Reagan’s. We need to be careful about how we handle the government’s size increases during times of need or at least have a zero-tolerance policy about cutting it back down once we come back from rough times (ex: the depression or the major unemployment crisis during Carter’s days).

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Secular Progressive sounds like a good name, but the only way you can be secular is if you leave as much morality as possible out of legislature. At least conservatives admit that they want to govern morality! I have more respect for whoever is going to stand on one ground and show us that he’s willing to work for what (s)he believes in, and understands what (s)he blieves in, whether (s)he be Liberal or Conservative, Democrat or Republican. I’ll end with another Thomas Jefferson quote, just to make this entry even more Libertarian.

“I have no fear that the result of our experiment will be that men may be trusted to govern themselves without a master.”
