Beginning of the End

Today was the first day of my Senior year in high school. The stail remains of my youth just keep falling away more and more quickly. Haha! It was an amazing first day. I don’t really have any many classes with a bunch of people I talk to a lot, but my classes are amazing.

First period is advanced psychology. It’s a college class and Mrs. James teaches it. She was my history teacher last year and she was probably the best history teacher ever. Mrs. Adkins from 8th grade being right behind her.¬†I’m really excited for that class. I really like the subject matter.

Second period is speech with Mrs. Roberts and that class is going to be really beneficial. I had Mrs. Roberts freshman year for English and I didn’t appreciate having her back then. I wish I would have given more of an effort back then.

Third period is English and I really think it’s going to be okay. I got my black folder of death- the senior project folder today. It gives me the willies talking about it so, I’m just going to move on.

Fourth period is Integrated Chemistry/Physics. McClain is in there with me!!! Today we got points for throwing paper airplanes… enough said.

Fifth period is Accounting 2. It’s a really small class, but Walden is awesome. Third lunch kind of sucks. But I got Arden and Drew in there so it’s I’ll be fine. But that’s pretty much all the people I know in there haha.

Sixth period is French 3. Madame is awesome. It’ll be a blast this year.

Seventh is government and I have Guipe. I had him 7th period freshman year for World History. It’s really awesome that I got the chance to have him 7th period again. That class is going to be so fun with him.

Last Friday of Summer

Today is my last Friday of High School Summer.

Today is going to be amazing. I’m going to a band practice with Mike. He should be here soon. Keep it Real is going to practice and then we’re going to have a Kiwi Rossdale practice I guess. They told me the music has changed, but all for the good.

Later tonight I’m going to Mike’s show up on the north side of Indy. I’m going to jump off of things. I haven’t done that in a while. I can’t wait.

Night

I was given the book Night sophomore year and I never really finished it, I picked it up last week and read it. It’s a nice short read, but it’s very depressing.

It’s about a twelve year old Jewish boy that lived in Poland I think and the beginning is pretty normal life and it shows how fast everything changed. The German officers rushed into their town and put all the Jews in the ghetto, but still seeming friendly and it eventually leads to them being expelled from the city onto trains and out to Auschwitz. In the camp, he and his father get separated from the mother and his sister: which is the last time he sees his mother and sister. His dad eventually gets killed, but he somehow makes it out alive.

After the book there is a section called connections that has a bunch of poems, short stories, and things like that that show what was happening in their heads. Some of the poems don’t even talk about death, but they are the prisoners begging to be taken to God. One of the short stories talked about the author’s experience on krystalnacht (I don’t know how to spell that). It shows again how fast everything changed in one night. Some of them talk about the train rides and some talk about facing death and seeing it right before them and being split from their families. The connections was pretty much a pile up of little stories that go more in depth than that certain part did in the book. I read a little over half of them and I’m going to finish the rest tomorrow.

This book is really sad. I know there are a lot of sad ones out there, but this one really jerks at my emotions. I had relatives that¬†survived Auschwitz and I can’t even begin to imagine how scary it would have been.
