Georgia

I’m in Georgia, everyone! I helped my mom drive here and I did very well. I don’t really stress out on the road anymore, but I do stay safe. Or at least try my best. Today we got here and went shopping and we went to Wal-Mart. So, if you know me well enough, you know that I’m in an irritated mood.

Wal-Mart, along the front interior wall of the store, from what I can recollect, has now a vision center, a photo studio, an arcade, a hair salon, a nail salon, and even a new healthcare booth from Humana! I don’t even know what to say. Those were all in seperate shops, too, as if they had a mini-mall up against the front interior wall. Wal-Mart is taking over the world. It’s an evil corporation people. Stop shopping there. Support your country!

Tomorrow, I think we’re going shopping a little and bringing my aunt to her Neurologist. On Saturday, we’re doing more shopping and probably going to see Superman. That should be neat. On Sunday, we have Church and I forgot what other plans we have. We’re most likely coming back on Monday. I miss everyone, but I’m having a great time.

I talked to Shelby earlier, and she’s doing great. Last night she was a little down for a bit, but she sounded awesome today and it made me happy hearing her being her righteous perky self. I also talked to Lauren and she sounded great, too. I love/miss you guys! Good luck to Nine More Minutes at their show tomorrow night. I know they’ll play great as always. They’re playing with heavy duty equipment for the first time though. It sucks that I’m not there to support them. You guys know I’d be there if I could!

And to my father! I just installed Firefox on Rod and Ali’s computer. I told him you get payed a dollar and I talked about how safe Firefox is and what it’s like. I didn’t realize that when you install it, it automatically imports all your favorites and homepage and everything! Neat (but geeky) stuff! Some of you are probably confused reading this. If you install the program advertised in that little button on the right side of my site, my dad gets payed a dollar. It’s basically internet explorer but it’s a lot better built and a lot safer.

A Good Week

I got a lot reading done this week. I’m about done with Foundation. I’m going to finish it tonight. I’m going to read A Farewell to Arms this week.

I’m going to Georgia with my mom and sister this week! It should be fun. My dad has let me do a few things this week because I’ve been keeping up my reading. As long as I keep it up I will get to have summer. Today I finally saw Shelby!!! It was such a good day. I don’t even know what to say about it.

My dad has let me see Mike and Lauren a few times. On Wednesday night, I went to Tanya’s show and ran the door with Mike. That was really fun. Dave’s band played. It was fun to watch.

I’ve recorded a bunch, if you haven’t noticed. I got Shelby’s song recorded today and I perfected it! I’ve been working on it for about 4 hours. But it was totally worth it!

Racism

Posted in Stuff on June 20th, 2006 by Bill

The dictionary definition of racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. I saw something tonight that¬†made me think. It was a chain letter type thing that was about how if white people take pride in their race, it makes them racist, but when other races such as Asians, Blacks, etc. take pride in their races, they aren’t.

I have¬†no problem with race pride, but doesn’t having pride in you race technically define some level of racism in you? I am not proud to be white; although, when I think of being of another race, I would like to stay just the way I am. I guess that defines some level of racism in me, as well. I have no problem with any other race. I have made some judgement. As a human, that is normal. I have seen different behaviors in different races: more common behaviors, but there are people that make the generalizations not always true.

This year, my history teacher, who has a degree in psychology, told us that racism comes through blood lines and that the only way that we can get rid of racism is to not pass the generalizing onto lower generations and to put races together to work in unison for a common goal. I would love to see a world with no racism, but that is impossible in our generation. We have a very long way to go. I could certainly fight against racism, but I believe that I have other things that I could do with my time that could benefit myself and others more than a fight against racism.

I believe that one day this world will be clean of racism, but it is far from that point right now. The chain letter that¬†I saw talked about things like Black History month, the United Negro College Fund, Black Exposition… things like that and how if whites had those, they’d be racist. If people truely wanted to get rid of racism, we would tear down all of these things and stop saying things that were said in that chain letter. When this world is clean of racism, it will not have organizations like that. I don’t think these organizations are wrong. Sometimes, races organize them for other races as an apology for unfair treatment, which helps at first, but the recieving race should never demand that things like that to be done. If they wanted to abolish the racism, they would simply forget the past. Of course, that’s a bit harder than it sounds. We should say our sorries, forget the past, and move on with our busy little lives.

I take pride in my own actions. I’m proud of being me. I don’t take pride in the fact that I’m white. I take pride in my personal character and abilities. I take pride in the way I treat others. I take pride in my musical abilities. You should, too.
